CNY Outing

Our CNY Outing :)

It's been a fun-filled Saturday for our big ZHSJ family!
Started off the day with breaking the ice between the new Year 1s and getting the know them better.
Year 1s, welcome all of you to ZHSJ :)
After which, we invaded the ever-crowded Chinatown for the literal part of the "Outing".
Shi Zi Lu Kou, Outward Bound St John, and all the other little POP-UP games!
And of course, our doses of KOI bubble tea :P
Then back to zhss, the Year 1s continued with a series of interesting water games,
while the NCOs started preparing for the BBQ. Food was great!
And the highlight of the night, our ZHSJ lao yu-sheng ceremony and birthday celebration for the Term 1 babies :)

Lots of fun, laughter, yummy food and good company for the whole day!
I'm sure everyone had enjoyed themselves as much as we did :)

A big pat on the back for all the NCOs who have spent so much time and effort planning for this event.
Despite little hiccups here and there, everything went pretty smoothly,
and everyone, from the very young to the not-so-young members, had enjoyed the event!
And there, you have met the objective of our CNY Outing.
Well done Year 3s!

Let's all look forward to the next event coming up in our calendar.. C.D.E. :)
Till then, don't forget to study hard while enjoying the festive season!
Have a Happy Chinese New Year and collect many ang baos!

Holding On To A Dream

Holding On To A Dream

We were born with wings to fly
But sometimes we can't reach that high
'Cause it feels like the sky is falling down

Against the odds, against the rain
You dig your heels in to slow that train
So many wishes in the lost and found
One little thing can turn it all around

Holding on to a dream
Trying to keep hope alive
You can reach out to me
You can reach down deep inside
When the whole world's gone insane
A ray of light remains
The days you know it seems
Sometimes the hardest thing is
Holding on to a dream

At times you win, at times you lose
Sometimes life puts a rock in your shoe
But something in you keeps you walking on

Leave the fear and doubt in the past
Just believe, don't look back

Feels like an endless fight
All up hill, but that's all right

Keep your dreams alive :)

TWOzeroONEzero!

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO OUR BIG ZHSJ FAMILY!!

:D

So, a new year is finally here.
Time for a change to the already-getting-mundane-and-activitylittle-cca!
This year, there will be more activities happening in ZHSJ, more fun and more time for bonding!

First up, look forward to the CNY OUTING people!
Our very first welfare event for 2010 :)
Feel free to give the Year 3s suggestions on how you'll like the outing to be,
because the outing essentially belongs to all of you!

BUT of course, nothing should be just about all-play-and-no-serious-work.
This year, there will also be more focus on DISCIPLINE as well :)
We are in a uniformed group, discipline should be the very basic element that every cadet should have.
Respect your seniors, respect your fellows, and respect yourself.
Let's upkeep the ZHSJ reputation of churning out high-quality and well-disciplined cadets!

We will also be trying to make the weekly trainings more enriching for all of you,
so keep your feedback and suggestions coming in!
If you have any novel or creative or intelligent or ingenious ideas on how to make weekly trainings more effective and interesting, please email us at zhsjtraining@gmail.com.

LET'S ALL STRIVE TO MAKE 2010 AN EVEN BETTER YEAR FOR ZHSJ!

One for All, All for One! :)

p.s. Happy School Reopening everyone! Remember to work hard in your studies too!

Preparing for 2010..

ATTENTION TO ALL YEAR 2, 3 and 4 CADETS!

Please check your emails!
All of you should have received an email from ZHSJ Training.
If you didn't receive one, do check with your fellow year mates for details :)

Please reply to the email (reply to zhsjtraining@gmail.com)
by the respective deadlines.
We will like to hear from each and every one of you.

Let's make it happen for 2010!

P.S. Do pass down the message to those who don't go online often :)

All Fall In!

Exams are OVER, holidays are here.
And of course, the long-awaited NCO Course!

This is the time of the year many of you have been yearning for.
(well, maybe some of you have been dreading it)
But still, boys and girls,
once again, the time is here for great memories and friendships to be built!

For the Standard Course trainees,
going for NCOC is a great chance for you to know the other fellow St John members in Zone 5!
Take part with an open mind, and learn all the knowledge and skills to be a future NCO.
Be involved with an open heart, and make friends with all your course mates.

For the Advance Course trainees,
this will probably be the last course and camp you'll take part in as a cadet.
Unleash your full potential, show us what you are capable of!
LEAD AND BE LED.
Being an NCO is not all about being a leader,
you will also have to be a good team player.

Everyone, do yourself proud and ZHSJ will be proud of you.

Hang in there even when things get tough, boring or frustrating.
We want to see all of you at the Passing Out Ceremony!

Carve this line into your head:
"TOUGH TIMES DON'T LAST, TOUGH MEN DO!"

Have FUN people!

Don't Give Up

Examination period is here once again... and ending soon for the year 1s to 3s. Year 4s persevere abit longer and your freedom is not too far away.

Take a look at the video... "Don't Quit".
Don't quit when mugging for your exams. Keep on going!
Don't quit and give up if your results are not as good as you hope. Work harder, ask for help if you need it.
After exams...
Don't quit coming for trainings =P
Don't quit in the upcoming NCOC =)
'Cos... Tough time don't last, Tough man do!

Teachers are working hard marking your papers...
Officers and graduates are studying hard too...
So... Work Hard, Study Hard too! So that you all can Play Hard after that =)

When things go wrong, as they sometimes will,
When the road you're trudging seems all up hill,
When the funds are low and the debts are high,
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit,
Rest if you must, but don't you quit.

Life is queer with its twists and turns,
As everyone of us sometimes learns,
And many a failure turns about
When he might have won had he stuck it out;
Don't give up, though the pace seems slow -
You might succeed with another blow.

Often the goal is nearer than
It seems to a faint and faltering man,
Often the struggler has given up
When he might have captured the victor's cup.
And he learned too late, when the night slipped down,
How close he was to the golden crown.

Success is failure turned inside out -
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt -
And you never can tell how close you are,
It may be near when it seems afar;
So stick to the fight when you're hardest hit -
It's when things seem worst that you mustn't quit.

Us

post-cny outing

the long-awaited cny outing has finally ended on a good note!
the steamboat food may not be fantastically nice,
but the feeling of eating together as one big zhsj family is great :D

pictures speak a thousand words....

looking forward to the next gathering :)

Monday, December 01, 2008

It has been a tedious 5 weeks for our NCOs-to-be! But we hope all of you have learnt something so far.. be it from the scoldings, the compliments, or your observation of other fellow course mates..

And now, the camp will be the next hurdle to overcome! All of you will just have to put in your best effort and enjoy the 4 days 3 nights together! We can assure you that by the end of the camp, most of you will be saying "i wish the camp would have lasted longer...." =D

So, for those who are still bottling all your potential up till this point in time, take this chance to unleash all of it, and you will surely see yourself in a different light after that!

Good luck everyone and see you at camp! =)
